Gojo Geisha Area Kyoto Fri 24 Oct_24

This is the entrance to a garage in one of the blocks in this area. There are no sidewalks for the pedestrians to avoid cars. Instead cars respect and give right of way to pedestrians. Note also this beautiful plant on the side of the street,w hich grows without being harm by walkers or vehicles on this street. Not viewable from this photo, but it's truly amazing how Japanese people park their cars so perfectly into these compact garages without driving the car into the house or knocking a wall or column down.
